What is this product used for
Measuring blood pressure.

Instructions for use
Inserting the batteries
After unpacking the device, first insert the batteries.
The battery compartment 7 is located on the underside of
the device. Insert the batteries (4 x 1.5 V, size AA), paying attention to
the indicated polarity.

Setting date and time
1. After the batteries are inserted, the year flashes on the screen. You can set the year by pressing the M button 3. To confirm and then set the month, press the time button 4.
2. Now you can set the month with the M button. Press the time button to confirm and then set the day.
3. Follow the instructions above to set day, hour and minutes.
4. Once you have set the minutes and pressed the time button, the date and time are set and the time is displayed.
5. If you want to change the date and time, hold down the time button for approx. 3 seconds until the year starts flashing. Now you can enter new values as described above.

Select the correct cuff
Microlife has cuffs in different sizes. Select the cuff size that corresponds to your upper arm circumference (the measured circumference around the middle of the upper arm).
Contact your Microlife importer if the included cuff 8 does not fit.
Attach the cuff to the device using the cuff connector 9, pushing the connector 5 as far as possible into the device.

Step-by-step plan for reliable blood pressure measurement
Avoid activity, eating or smoking just before a measurement.
Sit on a chair with back support and relax for 5 minutes.
Keep your feet together on the floor and do not sit with your legs crossed.
Always measure on the same arm (normally the left). It is recommended that doctors measure both arms during a patient's first visit to determine the arm to be measured. The arm with the higher blood pressure should be measured.
Remove clothing covering the upper arm; sleeves should not be rolled up to avoid constriction.
Always ensure that the correct cuff size is used (arm circumference marking is indicated on the cuff).
Attach the cuff to the arm, but not too tightly.
Ensure the cuff is placed 1-2 cm above your elbow.
The artery mark on the cuff (approx. 3 cm long bar) should be placed over the artery of the arm (inside).
Support your arm so it is relaxed.
Ensure the cuff is at the same height as your heart.

Measuring blood pressure
1. Press the ON/OFF button 1 to start the measurement.
2. The cuff will now inflate automatically. Relax,
do not move, and do not tense your arm muscles until the measurement result is shown. Breathe normally and do not talk.
3. If the cuff is correctly placed, the Cuff check indicator AR symbol will appear on the screen. If the symbol
Cuff position check AR-A appears, the cuff is
moderately placed, but a correct blood pressure measurement can still be performed.
4. When the correct pressure is reached, pumping stops and the pressure slowly decreases. If the desired pressure is not reached, the device will automatically pump more air into the cuff.
5. During the measurement, the heart symbol AQ will flash on the screen.
6. The result, including the systolic AK and diastolic AL blood pressure and the pulse rate AM, will be displayed.

7. When the measurement is complete, remove the cuff.
8. Switch off the device. (The monitor automatically turns off after approx. 1 minute).
You can stop the measurement at any time by pressing the ON/OFF button or opening the cuff (e.g. if you feel uncomfortable or experience unpleasant pressure).
This monitor has been specially tested for use during pregnancy and pre-eclampsia. If you record unusually high readings, you should repeat the measurement later (e.g. 1 hour). If the reading is still too high, consult your doctor or gynaecologist.

Manually setting inflation
In case of high systolic blood pressure (e.g. above 135 mmHg) it can be advantageous to set the pressure manually. Press the ON/OFF button when the blood pressure monitor has inflated to approximately 30mmHg. Hold the button until the pressure is approximately 40 mmHg higher than the expected systolic value and then release the button.

Performing a measurement without saving it
Once the measurement is performed and the result is shown on the display, press and hold the ON/OFF button 1 until the «M» AP appears on the display. Then press the time button 4 and the measurement will be deleted and not saved.
When the measurement has been successfully deleted, «CL» will appear on the display.

How do I measure my blood pressure?
The triangular symbol on the left of the display AO refers to the classification of home blood pressure values in adults in accordance with international guidelines (ESH, ESC,
JSH). The blood pressure value: Optimal (white), elevated (shaded grey) or too high (black). Values in mmHg.

Range Systolic Diastolic Advice
1. blood pressure too high >/= 135 >/= 85 Seek medical advice
2. blood pressure elevated 130 - 134 80 - 84 Self-monitoring
3. blood pressure normal <130 <80 Self-monitoring

The evaluation of the values is according to the table. For example:
a blood pressure value of 140/80 mmHg or a value
of 130/90 mmHg indicates «blood pressure too high».

Appearance of the irregular heartbeat (IHB) symbol
This symbol BT indicates that an irregular heartbeat has been
detected. In this case, the measured blood pressure may deviate from
your actual blood pressure values. It is recommended to
repeat the measurement.

Information for the physician in case of repeated
appearance of the IHB symbol
This device is an oscillometric blood pressure monitor that also measures the
pulse during blood pressure measurement and indicates when the heart rate is irregular.

Memory storage
This device stores the last 30 measurements.

Viewing stored values
Press the M button 3 when the device is switched off. The display will first show «M» AP and «A», which stands for the average of all stored values.
Pressing the M button again will show the previous value. By pressing the M button again, you can scroll through the measurement results.

Clear all values
If you are sure you want to permanently delete all stored values, press and hold the M button (first switch off the device) until «CL ALL» appears and then release the button. To permanently clear the memory, press the time button while «CL ALL» is flashing. Individual measurements cannot be deleted.

Cancel deletion: press the ON/OFF button 1 while «CL ALL» is flashing.

Battery indicator and battery replacement
Batteries almost empty
When the batteries are approximately ¾ used, the battery symbol AN will flash as soon as the device is switched on
(partially charged battery is displayed). Although the
device will continue to measure reliably, you should replace the batteries
soon.
Batteries empty – replacement
When the batteries are empty, the battery symbol AN will flash as soon as the device is switched on (empty battery displayed). You cannot continue measuring and must replace the batteries.
1. Open the battery compartment 7 at the back of the device.
2. Replace the batteries – check the correct polarity as
shown by the symbols in the compartment.
3. To set the date and time, follow the procedure as
described in Section «Initial use of the device».

Which batteries and which procedure?
Use 4 new, long-life 1.5V, type AA alkaline batteries.
Do not use batteries whose expiry date has
passed.
Remove the batteries if the device will not be used for a longer
period of time.

Use of rechargeable batteries
You can also use rechargeable batteries for this device.
Please use only «NiMH» type rechargeable batteries!
The batteries must be removed and recharged if
the battery symbol (low battery) appears! They should not
remain in the device, as they can be damaged
(complete discharge due to minimal use
of the device, even when switched off).
Always remove rechargeable batteries if you do not plan
to use the device for a week or longer!
The batteries CANNOT be recharged in the blood pressure monitor! Charge these batteries in an external
charger and adhere to the information regarding
charging, maintenance and durability!

Use of a mains adapter
You can use this device with the Microlife mains adapter (DC 6V, 600 mA).
Only use the original available Microlife
mains adapter for your power voltage.
Check that both the mains adapter and the cable are not
damaged.
1. Plug the adapter cable into the mains adapter socket 6 of the
blood pressure monitor.
2. Plug the mains adapter plug into the wall socket.
When the mains adapter is connected, no battery power is used.

Follow the instructions for correct use. This documentation provides you with important operating and safety instructions regarding this device. Read the documentation carefully before using the device and keep it for future reference.
This device may only be used for the purpose described in the user manual. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage caused by incorrect use.
This device contains sensitive components and must be handled with care. Observe the storage and operating instructions as described in the chapter

The cuff is fragile and must be handled with care.
Only inflate the cuff when it is applied to the arm.
Do not use the device if you suspect it is damaged or if you notice anything unusual during use.
Never open the device.
Read further safety instructions in the individual sections of this booklet.
The measured results with this device do not constitute a diagnosis.
It does not replace a doctor's consultation, especially if
symptoms do not match. Do not rely solely on the
measurement result, always consider other symptoms, as well as feedback.

Children should only use the device under adult supervision. Small parts can be swallowed. Be aware of the risk of entanglement if the device has cables or tubes.

Device maintenance
Clean the device only with a soft dry cloth.
Clean the cuff
The cuff supplied with the device is washable.
1. Remove the cuff connector 9 from the cuff tube AT
and gently pull the bladder through the opening.
2. Wash the cuff cover at no warmer than 30 °C.
3. Dry the cuff with a dry cloth.
4. Insert the bladder back into the cuff cover through the opening and gently flatten the bladder.
5. Reattach the cuff connector to the cuff tube.

Contraindications
Do not use this device if the patient's condition meets the following contraindications, to avoid inaccurate measurements or injury.
The device is not intended for measuring blood pressure in paediatric patients under 12 years of age (children, infants or neonates).
The presence of significant cardiac arrhythmias during the measurement can disrupt the blood pressure measurement and affect the reliability of the blood pressure readings. Consult your doctor whether the device is suitable for use in this case.
The device measures blood pressure using a pressure cuff. If the limbs being measured have injuries (e.g. open wounds) or are under conditions or treatments (e.g. intravenous infusion) that make it unsuitable for surface contact or pressure application, do not use the device to prevent exacerbation of the injuries or conditions.
Patient movements during the measurement can disrupt the measurement process and affect the results.
Avoid measuring patients with conditions, diseases, and patients prone to environmental conditions that lead to uncontrollable movements (e.g., shaking or trembling) and patients who cannot communicate clearly (e.g., children and unconscious patients).
The device uses an oscillometric method to determine blood pressure. The arm being measured must have normal perfusion. The device is not intended for use on a limb with restricted or impaired blood circulation. If you suffer from circulatory or blood diseases, consult your doctor before using the device.
Avoid measurements on the arm on the side of a mastectomy or lymph node removal.
Do not use this device in a moving vehicle (e.g., in a car or aeroplane).

Do not change the patient's medication and treatment based on the result of one or more measurements. Changes in treatment and medication should only be
prescribed by a medical professional.
Inspect the device, cuff, and other parts for damage. DO NOT USE the device, cuff, or parts if they appear damaged or are functioning abnormally.
Prolonged interruption of blood flow reduces peripheral circulation and can cause tissue damage. Watch for signs (e.g., tissue discolouration) of obstructed peripheral circulation if performing continuous or prolonged measurements.
Prolonged exposure to cuff pressure will reduce peripheral perfusion and may lead to injury. Avoid situations of prolonged cuff pressure beyond normal measurements.
In the event of abnormally long pressure application, abort the measurement or loosen the cuff to reduce pressure in the cuff.
Do not use this device in an oxygen-rich environment or near flammable gas.
The device is not water-resistant or waterproof. Do not spill on the device and do not immerse it in water or other liquids.
Do not disassemble the device, accessories, and components, and do not attempt to repair it during use or storage.
Access to the internal hardware and software of the device is prohibited. Unauthorised access to and maintenance of the device during use or storage can compromise the safety and performance of the device.
Keep the device away from children and individuals who cannot operate the device. Be aware of the risks of accidental swallowing of small parts and strangulation with the cables and tubes of this device and accessories.

Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury to the user or patient, or damage to the device or other property.
The device is only intended for measuring blood pressure on the upper arm. Do not measure other sites, as the measurement will not accurately reflect your blood pressure.
After a measurement is completed, remove the cuff and rest for > 5 minutes to restore limb perfusion before performing a new measurement.
Do not use this device simultaneously with other medical electrical (ME) equipment. This may cause malfunctions in the device or inaccuracies in the measurements.
Do not use this device near high-frequency (HF) surgical equipment, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment, and computed tomography (CT) scanners.
This may cause malfunctions in the device and inaccuracies in the measurements.
Use and store the device, cuff, and components under the temperature and humidity conditions specified in the «Technical Specifications».Use and storage of the device, the cuff, and components in conditions outside the range specified in the «Technical
Specifications» may lead to malfunctions of the device and compromise its safe use.
To prevent damage to the device, protect the device and accessories from the following:
- water, other liquids, and moisture
- extreme temperatures
- impact and vibrations
- direct sunlight
- pollution and dust
- Stop using this device and the cuff and consult your physician if you experience skin irritation or discomfort.
