To interpret the measured value, use the color-coded display, which interprets the temperature based on the patient's age according to medical guidelines. \n\nAxillary use\nThis method is used for babies and small children.\n1. Dry the armpit with a dry towel.\n2. Place the probe tip under the arm so that the tip makes contact with the skin, and position the patient's arm next to his\/her body. \nFor a small child, it is sometimes helpful to hold the child close to you so that his\/her arm stays next to the body. This prevents room temperature from affecting the measurement.\n3. When the peak temperature is reached, beeps will sound. The temperature is now confirmed. When the thermometer is removed from the measurement site, the corresponding color will be displayed.\n4. Turn off the thermometer and clean it as indicated below.\n\nOral use\nThis method is suitable for children old enough to hold the thermometer safely in their mouth. \n1. It is important to place the tip of the thermometer well under the tongue, either left or right, to obtain a good, accurate reading. Place the sensor tip at one of the locations under the tongue marked with \"√\" (Fig. 2). Keep the patient's mouth closed and have him\/her sit still to ensure an accurate measurement.\n2. Apply a small amount of water-soluble lubricant to the tip of the thermometer to facilitate insertion. Do not use petroleum jelly. Read the lubricant label to ensure you are using the correct type.\n2. Place the patient on his\/her side. The correct position for babies is prone, with their legs hanging down. You can place the baby over your knees, on the edge of a bed or a changing table. In this position, the thermometer can be safely and easily inserted into the rectum.\n3. Gently insert the tip of the thermometer a MAXIMUM of 1.3 cm into the rectum. Stop if you feel resistance. Hold the thermometer in place during the measurement.\n4.
